Some of the largest and best known companies in the U.S. have begun hiring remote workers to maintain operations during the pandemic, or take advantage of new opportunities presented by crisis.
Amazon announced in a blog post that it is hiring an additional 75,000 workers nationwide to meet a surge in demand during the pandemic. Hundreds of those jobs are remote positions needed to coordinate deliveries, and provide customer support.
"Getting a priority item to your doorstep is vital as communities practice social-distancing, particularly for the elderly and others with underlying health issues," says Amazon's Dave Clark. "We are seeing a significant increase in demand, which means our labor needs are unprecedented for this time of year."
