For more information, please visit SummaryJob Summary:In this role, you will search public records and examine complex titles to determine legal condition of property title, primarily for energy and commercial properties in addition to copy or summarize recorded documents, which affect the condition of title to the property.This is a remote position where you will work independently and use experience to examine complex titles to real property, to determine status and establish chain of title.Essential FunctionsResponsible for preparing commitmentsFamiliar with all aspects of title workResponsible for performing complete title examination and examines the chain of title primarily for energy and commercial transactions from patentAbstracts and analyzes records, such as leases, subleases, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plot and map books. Determines ownership and legal restrictions to verify legal description of property and completeness of records that may cross county lines.Resolves most issues such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate or contradictory information contained in the title documentationPrepares initial title commitment documentation based on the application of procedural guidelinesPrepares and reviews reports for accuracyMay provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelinesRole typically requires travel to counties and title plants.Obtain document copies from county websites and imaging systemsPerform onsite and/or online researchKnowledge and Skills/Technology UsedStrong written and verbal communication skillsAnalytical review skillsResearch skillsStrong problem solving skillsPossesses critical thinking skills and the ability to sort through online files backplant, and various other records.Detail / quality orientationMust be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary internal and external customer serviceMust be able to keep up in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentAbility to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practicesMust be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to research independently as neededAbility to manage and balance multiple projectsFamiliarity with company operating systems and knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, strongly desiredProficient in researching title records, searching through multiple title plants and various resources needed to search complex properties and compile recordsPossesses a comprehensive understanding of all documents shown in the public records, knowledge of legal descriptions and the ability to read a legal description and plot it on a map.Typical Range of Experience3-5 years title/related real estate experienceTypical EducationCollege Degree Preferred But Not RequiredCandidates must have the ability to...Work from homeHave high speed internet to use our secure VPN environmentHave a dedicated space to work from home without background noiseBe available to work during fulltime during business hours & attend fulltime trainingWork overtime as needed by the business unitTravel Currently 0% due to COVID-19 restrictions but this will change in the future.
