We are seeking a Medical Assistant to work remotely and:

  • Become a member of one of the world's foremost organ transplant programs. UW Healthprovides care to patients in our heart, lung, kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, islet cell and pediatric transplant programs.
  • Perform remote check in for virtual appointments.
  • Call patients to explain the virtual appointment process and explain lab letters.

Education :

Minimum - Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, licensure as an LPN, completion of the UW Health Medical Assistant certification program or completion of CCMA as a UW Health employee.

Work Experience :

Minimum Will consider new Medical Assistant and LPN graduates.

Preferred One (1) year experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN.

Licenses and Certifications :

Minimum - Certified as CMA, RMA or CCMA or eligible for certification. Certification must be obtained within one year of hire from date of hire. CPR/BLS certification.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to make judgments in demanding situations.
  • Ability to react to frequent changes in duties and volume of work.
  • Commitment to respectful patient and family-centered care.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements :

Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

W ork Schedule : This is a temporary position for WI and IL residents only, scheduled to work 20 hours per week. 8-hour shifts scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM. While majority of work will be completed remotely, there may be a need to be onsite due to the operational needs of the clinic. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Training : This position requires two weeks of in person orientation.

Equipment: Laptop and headset are provided for work use only

Pay : UW Health offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Work experience that is relevant to the position will be taken into consideration when determining the starting base pay.
