Azure Database Administrator
100% work from home position (even after Covid )
W2 Contract to Hire Position - no 1099 or c2c
Work schedule: M-F first shift, 40 hours/week

The Azure Database Administrator brings SQL Administration expertise, MPP Tuning experience, DataLake Management strategies, Security Provisioning skills, and DEV/SEC/OPS knowledge.

  • This position calls for a professional consultant, a problem-solver, who takes ownership of tasks and drives them to completion.
  • The consultant is responsible to technically support a growing Azure environment, recommending best practices based on POCs , when needed, and ensuring the privacy and security of the HIPAA data contained therein.

Key Skills:

  • Maintains and optimizes SQL Databases in an Azure cloud including Managed Instance (MI) and the massively parallel Synapse databases
  • Knowledge to effectively support and maintain a multi-faceted Data Lake - assortment of storage accounts
  • Understands how to optimize data models for MPP (Azure Synapse) with distribution keys and schemes

Required Skills:

  • Assist with designing auditing capabilities into the existing database environments
  • Thorough understanding of CDC concepts and slowly changing dimensions
  • Expert knowledge of SQL queries to process large amounts of data in a set-based fashion
  • Experience with security provisioning AD Group access inside of the databases as requested with process
  • AZ103/104 Azure Administrator Certification or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Continue Deployment CI/CD
  • DP200 series Exams around Data Engineering
  • DP300 Azure Certification - Administration of Relational databases or equivalent experience
  • Has implemented backup and restore strategies in Azure
  • Experience setting up everyday database backup schemes to harmonize with Disaster Recovery data
  • Experience writing Azure scripts using CLI, Cloudshell, and Powershell
  • Knowledge of firewall concepts
  • Performance Tuning--the ability to analyze a query plan, proper indexing, & data type selection
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and diagnose query performance issues for Azure Synapse and SQL Server MI
  • Understanding the functional differences between Synapse and MI-recommend best the solution based on the use-case
