The mission of the Sex Offender Registry Board is to promote public safety through educating and informing the public in order to prevent further victimization. This is accomplished through registering and classifying convicted sex offenders by risk of re-offense and degree of danger and disseminating the identifying information of those offenders who live, work and/or attend institutions of higher learning in the communities of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The functions of the General Counsel's Office at the Sex Offender Registry Board are to represent the Board at all administrative agency hearings, in state superior courts and appellate courts, and serve as in-house counsel. The Counsel II will be expected to perform a wide range of legal functions which require extensive writing and oral advocacy experience.
